Turn a syllabus into a calendar in seconds

Every syllabus hides the dates that matter - exams, papers, readings - somewhere around page six. Academic Load reads the file and lays out every dated item in order, so you can check your semester at a glance instead of hunting for it.

How it works

  • Drop in the syllabus as a PDF (or a text file). You can try it on the home page without an account.
  • Academic Load pulls out every dated item: lecture topics, readings, quizzes, midterms, the final, project deadlines, and no-class days.
  • You get them sorted by date. Review the list, then add the ones you want to your checklist and calendar.

Get it into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook

Once your classes and deadlines are in Academic Load, you get a private calendar-subscribe link. Add it to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook once, and your deadlines show up next to everything else in your life.

The link is private to your account, and you can replace it any time from Settings if you ever want to shut off the old one.

Free and Premium

The free reader finds dates by pattern matching, which handles most well-formatted syllabi. Premium uses AI on top of that: it labels what each item is (exam, assignment, reading, holiday) and pulls the grading breakdown out of the syllabus, so your grade tracker is filled in for you.

Tips for cleaner results

  • Use the PDF your instructor posted, not a photo of it. A photo has no text for the reader to find.
  • Make sure the term and year appear somewhere in the file; dates without a year are assumed to be this year.
  • Skim the list before importing. Instructors are inconsistent, and it takes ten seconds to catch a wrong date.

Try it with your own classes

Free to start, no card, takes about 30 seconds.

Questions

Do I need an account to try it?

No. You can drop a syllabus on the home page and see what comes back without signing up. Nothing is saved unless you create an account and import it.

Does it work on scanned syllabi?

It reads the text inside a PDF. A scan or a photo of a page has no text layer, so results come back mostly empty. If that's all you have, copy the text into a text file, or ask your instructor for the original PDF.

What file types can I use?

PDFs and plain text files.

What happens to my syllabus?

It's processed on our servers to find the dates. Our privacy policy explains exactly what is stored and what isn't.
